SivaTools 4.5.1

Automatic plaster modelling, quantity take-off and dimensioning for Autodesk Revit

No pyRevit. No Python. Nothing else to install. SivaTools is a native Revit add-in.

1. Requirements

2. Installation

  1. Close Revit. Setup cannot run while Revit holds the files.
  2. Run the installer and approve the Windows administrator prompt.
  3. Setup detects the Revit versions installed on your machine and installs only to those. Next → Install → Finish.
  4. Start Revit. A Siva tab appears on the ribbon.

You never copy a file by hand.

3. Activating your license

  1. Siva tab → License button.
  2. Paste the key from your purchase e-mail.
  3. Press Activate. When it reports the license is active, you are ready.

The 15-day trial (Autodesk App Store edition only)

If you installed SivaTools from the Autodesk App Store, the License window offers a 15-day trial. No card and no sign-up: press the button, and every command is available for 15 days. The trial can be started once per computer and it does not restart if you reinstall.

If you downloaded SivaTools from sivatools.app instead, there is no button there and this is not a fault: on that channel the trial is part of the subscription and starts at checkout. Whichever way you started, the product is the same — only the way the trial begins differs.

4. What the buttons do

ButtonWhat it does
Generate PlasterApplies 2 cm interior plaster to the wall and column faces of rooms, including beam sides, beam soffits and the room ceiling. Door and window openings are cut, corners are joined.
Exterior PlasterApplies 3 cm facade plaster to the outer face of exterior walls.
Plaster Take-offShows the quantity table on screen and writes a CSV that Excel opens directly.
Take-off ScheduleBuilds the quantities as a real Revit schedule and places it on the sheet you choose.
DimensionPlaces interior and exterior dimensions on the plan. They are associative — move a wall and the value updates.
LicenseKey entry, status, device removal.

5. Recommended first run

  1. Rooms must be placed. Plaster is derived from room boundaries.
  2. The room's Limit Offset must reach the underside of the beams — otherwise a beam is not "in the room" and is not plastered.
  3. Generate Plaster → choose the scope (selected rooms / active level / whole project).
  4. Check the numbers with Plaster Take-off.
  5. Place the table with Take-off Schedule.
  6. Add dimensions with Dimension.

You may run Generate Plaster again on the same rooms: the old plaster is removed and rebuilt, never stacked.

6. What is NOT plastered

Please read this once — it matters for the accuracy of your quantities. The following are skipped automatically, and the count is written in the result report so nothing disappears silently:

ItemWhy
Curtain wallGlass is not plastered.
Steel columnPlaster does not adhere to steel. Steel structure is protected with intumescent coating or clad with plasterboard — both are separate trades.
Curved (arc) wallThe offset would produce a surface in the wrong place. You are warned before the operation.
Elements that are already plasterNever plastered twice (idempotent).

Curtain wall caveat: the detection relies on the facade being modelled as a curtain wall type in Revit. If you modelled glass as a "basic wall with a glass material", the add-in treats it as a normal wall and will plaster it. Use manual exclusion in that case.

Steel column caveat: the decision uses Revit's own Structural Material Type. If your steel column is concrete-encased and its surface will be plastered, you will see a "steel column — not plastered" line in the report and must handle that column separately.

Lift shafts, ducts, chimneys — the easiest method

Plaster is generated from rooms. If a volume has no Room, it is never touched. So the cleanest exclusion is: do not place a Room in the lift shaft or service duct. Separate that volume with a Room Separator and leave it room-less. The corridor-side wall face is still plastered normally — only the inside of the shaft is left out.

A lift shaft is not always unplastered. Under the Turkish Ministry (CSB) lift installation specification, the inner face of the shaft receives trowelled plaster if it is not a concrete shear wall; if it is concrete, it is painted. This is a project decision — the add-in does not make it for you. Leave the Room in place if the shaft is to be plastered; remove it if not.

Excluding individual rooms

Generate Plaster → "Selected rooms". Select the rooms you want first, then press the button. Anything not selected is never processed.

7. Frequently asked

Do the plaster walls change my room areas?

No. The generated plaster has Room Bounding switched off.

Why does the take-off give "Net + Reveal"?

Because the Turkish Ministry (CSB) unit-price schedule requires it for plaster items: all plastered faces including opening reveals are counted, and all openings and other finish surfaces are deducted. Your item quantity is the PLASTER AREA column. That is the default rule, not the only one — see the next question.

My contract is not measured under the Turkish schedule.

Settings → Quantities → Measurement rule. Four options: Türkiye (every opening deducted — the default, and the behaviour of every release before 4.4.0), RICS NRM2 (openings up to 1.00 m² inside the measured area are not deducted; an opening at the boundary is deducted whatever its size), DIN 18350 (openings up to 2.50 m² are not deducted, and reveals are still measured), and Custom, where you enter the threshold, a partial-deduction band and the boundary rule yourself.

The rule changes no geometry. The take-off gains two columns — Voids added back and BILLABLE AREA — and a block that states the rule, the clause it comes from, how many openings were kept and the difference from the physical area. With Türkiye selected the output is exactly what it was before.

SivaTools is not certified against any standard and does not ship the text of one. The rule is applied as numbers and the source is cited by clause. Two DIN sub-rules are not applied — the 30 cm column and beam interruptions, and the smallest-enclosing-rectangle provision — and the report says so on every run.

Numbers show a dot, I want a comma.

This is a project setting: Manage → Project Units → Decimal symbol = Comma. SivaTools does not change it for you, because it would affect every dimension in your project.

I see type names instead of item numbers.

The unit-price numbers of your contract are not invented by the add-in. Write your own into %APPDATA%\SivaTools\ayarlar.json:

{ "PozNolari": { "SIVA_IC_2cm": "15.280.1004" } }

Are areas under tiling or marble deducted?

No. The schedule requires it, but the add-in cannot know your room finish schedule — you must make that deduction yourself.

I cannot see plaster lines in section.

Set the view's Detail Level to Medium or Fine. Revit does not draw join clean-up at Coarse.

8. If something goes wrong

  1. If the Siva tab is missing, close and reopen Revit.
  2. If a command reports an error, send the message and this file:
    %LOCALAPPDATA%\SivaTools\log\sivatools-<date>.log
It is plain text — you can open and read it. Your license key is not in it and it carries no content from your model.
  3. State your Revit version too (Revit → Help → About).

9. Uninstalling

Settings → Apps → SivaTools → Uninstall.

You are asked whether license information and logs should also be removed. If you answer No, your license stays in place when you reinstall.

10. Known limits (not defects)
