What the model has to have
SivaTools reads your model rather than a drawing of it, so three things decide what it can generate. Check them before the first run; each one is quicker to fix now than to explain in a report afterwards.
- Placed Rooms. Interior plaster follows room boundaries. A space with no placed Room produces no interior plaster — not an error, simply nothing to work from.
- Room upper limits that reach the beams. Beam sides and soffits are plastered only where the room actually reaches them. A room stopped at door height leaves the beams out.
- Walls and columns in this model. Elements that live in a linked Revit model are not plastered. Bind what has to be measured, or plaster it in the file where it belongs.
02
Settings, once — Siva → Settings
Everything that changes the result is in one window, and it is worth two minutes before the first run rather than a regeneration after it.
- Thicknesses. Interior and exterior plaster thickness. Changing a thickness changes the plaster type itself, so plaster already in the model takes the new value on the next run — not before it.
- Type names and item codes. These reach your schedule and your CSV. Set them to your own item numbering now and every export afterwards matches your bill of quantities.
- Reveals. Reveal area is always measured. Modelling reveals as geometry — jambs, head, window sill — is a separate switch and is off by default. Turning it on does not change the measured area.
- Output language. Reports, CSV and schedules can be produced in English, Türkçe or Español, independently of your Revit interface language.
03
Generate the plaster
- Open Siva → Generate Plaster and choose the scope: the rooms you have selected, a whole level, or the project.
- Start with one room. A first run on a single space shows you the thickness, the type names and the reveal behaviour in seconds, on geometry small enough to check by eye.
- Run Siva → Exterior Plaster for the façade. Interior and exterior are separate commands because they are separate decisions — and separate line items.
- The plaster arrives as real Revit geometry. It appears in plans, sections, 3D views and schedules, and it can be cut, joined and dimensioned like anything else in the model.
04
Read the report — especially what it left out
Every run ends with a report, and the useful half is the list of things it did not do. An element is never dropped silently: it is named together with the reason.
- Curtain walls and structural steel columns are excluded on purpose — plaster is not applied to either — and the report says so rather than leaving a gap you have to notice.
- Sloped and curved beams, and other geometry outside the supported set, are reported instead of being approximated. An approximation you did not ask for is worse than a line you can read.
- If an opening's frame position cannot be read, that opening gets no modelled reveal and is listed. The reveal area is still measured.
05
Take off the quantity
- Siva → Plaster Takeoff. Length, height, gross area, opening deductions, reveal area, net area and volume, for every element that was generated.
- Group by room to check a space, or by item to price it. Both views are the same numbers seen from different sides, not two calculations.
- Siva → Revit Schedule builds a native Revit schedule from the same figures and places it on a sheet you choose. What you see on screen, what the CSV exports and what the schedule prints all come from one calculation.
- Siva → Add Dimensions adds interior or exterior dimension chains that stay associated with the model, so they follow it when it changes.
06
Running it again
Generation is repeatable. Running a scope a second time removes the plaster SivaTools made for that scope and rebuilds it, so you get a replacement rather than a second layer on top of the first. Change a thickness, fix a wall, run it again.
The consequence is worth knowing before it costs you an afternoon: plaster generated by SivaTools carries its own tag, and a hand edit to a generated element carries that tag too. The next run replaces it. Model the exception outside the generated set, or make the change in the settings so the next run produces it for you.
07
Where it stops, stated plainly
These are the current limits. They are here so you meet them on this page instead of in a deliverable.
- Elements in linked models are not plastered.
- Sloped and curved beams are out of scope. On curved walls the offset geometry is approximate and corners are worth a look.
- A glass wall modelled as a Basic Wall is treated as a wall. Use a Revit Curtain Wall type where the surface must be excluded automatically.
- Ceiling plaster is generated wherever a ceiling is found; SivaTools does not read your finishes schedule, so remove it in rooms with a suspended ceiling.
- Where a source wall is attached at top or base, that attachment cannot always be carried to the generated plaster. Attach it manually where it matters.

When something looks wrong
Write to yalpoarchitects@sivatools.app with your Revit version, your SivaTools version, and what you did before the result surprised you. For a technical fault, add the log file — its path is the last line of the report window. The log stays on your computer until you choose to send it; the Privacy Notice lists what does and does not leave your machine.
